BMW is rolling out the special editions today, and just because some or all of them may just be the butt end of a good April Fool’s joke, doesn’t mean we can’t revel in the ideas behind these machines. The first was an M3 pick-up that we know was absolutely an April Fool’s joke, the second was the BMW M3 Royal Edition that we hope is, and now the third which we want to believe is actually true. The M3 Lightweight Concept is said to debut at the M Festival at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race later this year and we are happy to report that many don’t believe this is a joke at all. We think it looks more like a reincarnation of the limited edition BMW M3 CSL with the same limited weight focus.

Turn 12, Road Atlanta's screaming-fast, off-camber, downhill bend defines this old-school European-style road racing circuit. In the 2006 Lotus Sport Elise, it's dispatched in 4th gear at about 95 mph. Get it wrong and there's a massive concrete wall only 22 feet off the outside of the bend ready to make you regret your lack of talent. Get it right — flat out, eyes fixed past the apex, foot to the floor — and there's no drama at all. It takes us about 100 tries to get it right.

It seems that the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is once again put to performance tests by the German people from Sport Auto, the smallest M obtaining a new noteworthy result. If few months ago the same German magazine tested the new 1M Coupe at the Hockenheim circuit and obtained an amazing 1:14.1 lap time beating models such as the BMW E92 M3 ZCP DCT. This time, Sport Auto announces that the well-known circuit from Nurburgring has been completed by the new 1M Coupe in 8:15.

Morgan, a company perhaps best known for not introducing new cars, showed off a new car just outside the Pebble Beach Concours and promises to bring a new car to market every two years. At this point the Morgan EvaGT is a concept, but the production version will be the first of Morgan’s ambitious product push. Morgan is even taking orders for the 2+2 sports car, and says it will enter production in 2012.

The executive shuttle of the future

Citroën has announced plans to introduce the Tubik concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Described as a "high-tech executive shuttle," the van has boxy styling with a bold front fascia, a massive grille and miniscule headlights. Most notably, the passenger side has a massive gullwing door which opens to reveal a spacious and airy cabin.
