While it's not a primary objective of Porsche Cars AG, one cannot deny the positive effect their cars have on the driver's ability to get a date. In 2010, Honda sold 260,218 eighth-generation Civics, or more units than BMW sold, well, all told (220,113). In fact, Civic sales were nearly as much as that of the complete BMW group (266,069), which includes Mini and Rolls-Royce. I'm catapulting the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 between apexes on a deserted, twisting canyon road in central California, and all I can think is, "Whatever you do, don't contract that annoying 'Jeremy Clarkson' strain of Tourette's syndrome!" The risk of blurting out all manner of multisyllabic drivel is very real, and the last thing I want is an involuntary impression of Britain's Top Gear host marring my otherwise enjoyable ride.

Effective immediately, Mercedes-Benz is combining the V6 diesel engine in the S350 BlueTEC with an ECO start/stop function. As a result, the fuel consumption of the luxury class saloon has been lowered to 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres or 1.6 gallons per 62 miles (NEDC combined). The S 350 BlueTEC is also one of the world’s cleanest diesel models.

The Brabus 700 Biturbo, based on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, was officially revealed Tuesday at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

To fit the Mercedes SLS V8 engine, the German tuner’s engineers have created their own twin-turbo system that achieves an output of 700 PS (514 kW / 690 bhp) and 850 Nm (626 lb-ft) of torque. The B63 bi-turbo system features a left-turning charger attached to the left side of the engine, as opposed to the more common right-charging, right-side fitted twin-turbochargers. Improved gas flow and dynamics are the result of this style of fitting.
