Details of Cadillac ATS, XTS, Next CTS Confirmed
General Motors North America President Mark Reuss unveiled this teaser photo of the 2013 Cadillac ATS Thursday morning, and otherwise confirmed pretty much everything we've reported and/or speculated on regarding the future Cadillac lineup."For now, this vehicle will be known by its code name; ATS," Reuss said about the Caddy 3 Series fighter that goes on sale in the summer of '12 as a 2013 model, speaking at the Center for Automotive Research's Management Briefing Seminar in Traverse City, Michigan Thursday morning.

"It's being developed to be a driver's car on an all-new Cadillac-specific RWD-AWD architecture, just like the larger CTS."The ATS codename won't stick, and as far as we're concerned, this would be a good time to revert to real names for Cadillac models. That's not going to happen, as Reuss also announced the new transverse-engine large sedan, the XTS, goes on sale next spring. It's based on the XTS Platinum Concept unveiled at the '10 Detroit show, and though it's a front-drive-based all-wheel-drive sedan, it will be positioned as a more luxurious, more formal sedan to the CTS.

At a press conference after his CAR conference speech, Reuss confirmed that the next CTS, expected in the 2015 model year, will get larger. He wasn't explicit about it. The current CTS is a "tweener," he said, and the next one will directly compete with foreign competition, meaning the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
