2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco announced
Estimated fuel economy rating of 26 mpg city / 38 mpg highway

Chevrolet has released the first details about the 2013 Malibu Eco.

Designed to be one of the most fuel efficient vehicles in its class, the Eco uses the eAssist system which pairs a 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. Besides acting as an engine start/stop system, eAssist can provide a 15 hp (11 kW / 15 PS) boost to improve acceleration.

To further maximize efficiency, engineers also installed an active shutter grille, aerodynamic underbody panels, and 17-inch alloy wheels with low-rolling resistance tires.

Set to be launched early next year, Chevrolet estimates the Malibu Eco will have a fuel economy rating of 26 mpg city / 38 mpg highway.
