Chrysler / AutoPacific names ideal vehicles

AutoPacific names ideal vehicles
Once a buyer has settled on a model and secured their new car loan, it's usually a great few months. Getting a new car is a bit like getting a new toy when you were younger, and everyone loves that new car smell. However, not every driver ends up being happy with their vehicle.

Yes, "buyer's remorse" can set in pretty quickly if every aspect of the car isn't what the buyer originally desired. Test drives only reveal so much about how a car will truly handle on the road, so drivers may discover a few months into owning a car that it isn't exactly what they wanted. AutoPacific has begun tracking how happy a customer is with their purchase in their annual Ideal Vehicle Awards, which are determined by a survey of 72,000 consumers.

"Everyone has had the experience of wanting to change something after you've bought it and experienced it for awhile. This is especially true of vehicles," said George Peterson, President of AutoPacific. "This research recognizes the vehicles that owners want to change the least. In other words, the vehicles that already match their owner's demands."

The survey identifies the best overall brands and individual models in a range of different vehicle classes. For the fourth year in a row, Porsche was named as the luxury brand that buyers regret the least. Meanwhile, Chrysler was named the best overall non-luxury brand, with the Chrysler Town & Country also being named best minivan.

However, while Chrysler's overall lineup performed better, Ford had the most individual models that won their categories. The F-150, Flex, Explorer and Fusion Hybrid were just some of the Ford models that performed well. Overall, it was a nice win for American automakers: they took eleven of the 24 categories, with Europe taking 7 and Asian brands accounting for 6.

Other "ideal vehicles" included the Hyundai Azera, Volvo S60, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Subaru Legacy, Toyota Sequioa and Honda Ridgeline.

If you're shopping for a new vehicle, some of these models might be a smart choice if you want to be sure you don't regret your purchase later. An auto loan arranged before going to the dealership can help drivers negotiate deals on these cars.
