What exactly did Ford do to get such great performance? Lots. Engineers started with a standard 5.0-liter engine, but instead of just throwing a supercharger on it, Ford kept this engine au natural and made it a free-flowing, high-revving screamer with a new "runners-in-the-box" plenum/velocity stack combination. Ford used revised camshafts with a more aggressive grind, and CNC machined the intake, exhaust ports, and combustion chambers of the aluminum heads.

The minivan segment isn't known for drama, but Chrysler's update of the Town & Country in the nick of time is about as close as it gets. Due to the advent of the excellent new Toyota Sienna and the even more freshly rebaked Honda Odyssey, the languishing Town & Country's game clock has been rapidly winding down to its last precious seconds. Is Chrysler's Hail Mary minivan a game winner? Honestly, no. A game-changer? Well, yes, at least in the sense that an overtime reconsideration of the trio of family boxes from Chrysler, Toyota, and Honda, now definitely seems in order. Following in the reins of the 2010 Mopar Challenger, the tuning company is turning its attention to the 2011 Charger to make it one of the fastest, meanest, and more powerful Chargers out on the market.

This latest special edition from Ford doesn’t exactly serve as a worthy alternative for a Nissan GT-R, but the company has graced it with the GTR name nonetheless. The special edition Ford Fiesta GTR was created by Ford dealer Steve Chamber and will be limited to only 250 units. If you are a UK resident, the car can be yours for £249 per month.

BMW has announced the name and the date of its two all-new alternative-powertrain high-tech carbon-bodied cars. The plug-in diesel-electric AWD supercar, based on the Vision EfficientDynamics concept, will reach dealers as the i8. The artist formerly known as the Mega City Vehicle, a pure-electric city car, will be called i3. Both will be launched in 2013.

Morgan, a company perhaps best known for not introducing new cars, showed off a new car just outside the Pebble Beach Concours and promises to bring a new car to market every two years. At this point the Morgan EvaGT is a concept, but the production version will be the first of Morgan’s ambitious product push. Morgan is even taking orders for the 2+2 sports car, and says it will enter production in 2012.
