Ford Explorer EcoBoost gives class-leading fuel economy
Rated at 20 mpg city / 28 mph highway

Ford has released new information about the 2012 Explorer EcoBoost.

Designed for fuel-conscious shoppers, the crossover features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 240 hp (179 kW / 243 PS) and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) of torque. That's doesn't sound like much power for a seven-seat crossover, but Ford touts the fact that the Explorer has a class-leading fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city / 28 mpg highway. For comparison, the Explorer with the 3.5-liter V6 returns 17 mpg city / 25 mpg highway.

Pricing information hasn't been released, but the model should start arriving at dealerships shortly.
