It seems that Jaguar is bringing its own little treat to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in the form of a special edition XF-R.

Owning a Jaguar carries with it an exclusivity all by itself, but when you own a special limited edition Jaguar, then the exclusivity mark jumps up another 100 notches.

Jaguar will take on the Porsche 918 on the road, if not the track, with its C-X75 hybrid supercar, Its name will change, and Jaguar will build just 250 examples at a price of 700,000 pounds or more, depending on the market and taxes. That "base" price comes to $1.151 million based on recent exchange rates. Orders will be taken this fall, with deliveries beginning in late 2013.

The revised XF made its debut today at the New York Auto Show and will be followed by diesel and station wagon versions at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Jaguar’s 75th-anniversary festivities include enjoying “featured marque” status at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which the company commemorated by displaying a tricked-out, one-off XJ it calls the XJ75 Platinum Design Concept.

The entry-level sedan market is a crowded area. There are more vehicles on sale in this segment than there are Walmarts in small towns. Well, maybe not that many, but you get the idea. In order to break through the segment barrier, you need a special vehicle, and not just moderately special either. To find success, an automaker needs something brilliant.

Jaguar is already preparing the next generation XK sports coupe and convertible, but before that the company has given the current generation a final touch with a new facelift version of the XK. The refreshed model comes with dramatic design enhancements and new option packages emphasizing luxury and sporting personality. The face-lifted XK and the 550 HP XKR-S made their North American debut at the 2011 New york Auto Show.

As with every other aftermarket tuning company, there are those that specialize in one brand above all others and become synonymous for their work on that particular auto brand.As the premier specialists in Jaguar tuning, Arden has released a number of packages especially devoted to the British marquee and has always received great acclaim for their work. Arden has continued that approach after releasing their latest modification kit for one of Jaguar’s new vehicles, the 2010 XJ saloon.

While Jaguar toils away at designing a new and "proper" C-segment car to replace the unlamented X-Type (it's three to four years away), the XF ranks as the volume model. As such, the company has been clucking and fussing over it almost constantly since its 2008 launch. For 2012, the interior and exterior get a good going-over. Exterior enhancements were predicted by the CXF concept that appeared just prior to the production launch, and they leverage technology that now makes some of that concept's styling cues production feasible. Examples include the LED daytime running lamp treatment (which has come to be expected on cars in the class), and the "Tron"-look light-blade taillamp illumination that now extends onto the decklid.
