2012 Peugeot 90-X
So with a need for a new racer to compete in 2011, Peugeot Sport has finally introduced the successor to the 908: the 90-X.

Technical details of the 90-X are still unknown as of this time as the car is still in the testing phase. According to Bruno Famin, Peugeot Sport’s technical director, the team is still exploring several options with regard to the engine and technology that’s going to be used in the 90-X. "Work on the engine’s development is ongoing,” he said. “Endurance racing is an ideal proving ground to provide us with the opportunity to showcase all the brand’s technologies."

Having said that, the closed cockpit 90-X supposedly passes all of ACO’s 2011 regulations, including the 900 kg weight limit. Peugeot also installed a new safety feature in the 90X – a “shark fin” – which was designed to prevent the race car from going airborne in the event of any unforeseen accidents.

Peugeot Sport Director Olivier Quenel said that preparations made for the 90-X are on schedule with track testing already taking place before the year ends. "I am pleased to report that we have now done that [test runs],” he said. “Even so, there is still a long way to go and a considerable amount of work to be done as we prepare for 2011
