Toyota Hot Hatch Concept Morphing into Coupe
When Toyota's CEO Akio Toyoda wrote in a recent blog that he and his company "would pick up where Hiromu Naruse left off," we believe he meant it. Naruse was Toyota's chief test driver and spiritual head of the Gazoo Racing tuning house who was tragically killed in June in an accident in Germany while test driving a Lexus LFA near the Nurburgring.Just seven months ago at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Naruse-san and his team unveiled three of Gazoo's GRMN concept cars, all inspired by -- you guessed it -- the Nurburgring. Of the three, the one that has the most chance of hitting showroom floors relatively soon is a version of the GRMN FR Hot Hatch concept (pictured above) -- a small, rear-drive five door based on the Toyota Aygo city car. But if something like it is indeed built, expect to see a much different vehicle based loosely on the three-door version of the Aygo. The illustration depicted at right is how one artist sees the hatchback coupe if it does indeed make it to production.
