The existence of the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon -- a brazen, wonderful, and bewildering thing -- is a miracle. The 2012 Hyundai Veloster made its debut this year at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. It warmed our hearts in terms of looks, but its 138 HP leaking out of the Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine chilled us to the bone. Shouldn’t a "sports car" have a little more push that that? To many of us, the words "Dodge Charger" evoke images of a brawny coupe with Coke-bottle contours and hideaway headlights. Especially with the recent release of the Dukes of Hazzard movie, it's the 1968-1970 version of Dodge's classic muscle car that first comes to mind. Hard-core partisans have taken issue with DaimlerChrysler's revival of that traditional coupe name for the 2006 Dodge Charger, a four-door sedan. We say, OK, it might have been nice to save the name for a sporty coupe, but it's now on a sedan. Let's move on.

Back in 2009, we heard that Mercedes-Benz and AMG had plans to replace its entire engine lineup with a new range of more fuel efficient direct-injected and turbocharged powerplants.
