Perhaps so, but the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK can supply panoramic views of the skies above year-round, rain, snow, or shine.
Those charged with shaping the SLK’s exterior form continue to be inspired by exotic machinery, but it does appear their influence has evolved. While the last model, which debuted in 2004, copped a few design cues from the McLaren-built SLR, the 2012 SLK is undoubtedly influenced by Mercedes’ new SLS AMG supercar. The tapered snout and split upper grille are no more; instead, the SLK wears a blunt, squared-off front fascia, complete with a broad, expansive grille in keeping with the company’s latest design ethic.

Vehicles like the Audi Q7 TDI have done a lot to change the perception that diesel vehicles are crude, stinky, black smoke-spewers, and the company's lone turbodiesel SUV gets even better for 2011. A bestseller at 400,000-plus per year in the '90s, the Explorer met its automotive Waterloo during the Firestone tread-separation debacle. Sales of the body-on-frame Explorer dwindled to 52,190 in 2009, as Ford was launching its new Taurus. Ford redesigned the sedan far beyond its original intentions, though retaining the Volvo-derived D4 platform. Now, thanks to Mulally's push for quicker updates of Ford models, it's the Explorer's turn.

The Germans from BMW decided to reveal the first video of the new BMW M5 (F10), a footage which shows the German M model revving its engine at the Ascari Race Resort in southern Spain. We already discussed all the important facts and figures of the high performance model based on the current 5 Series generation but if you missed it you can read more here. The new M5 will debut this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show but also later this week at the M Festival.

The first question we asked was, Why?

Why did Suzuki and Nissan apparently agree that a regrilled Frontier belongs in Suzuki showrooms? The answer, of course, is that Suzuki doesn’t sell a pickup in the U.S. (never has, actually), and Nissan evidently needs some A-segment cars in other countries.
